White Blazer!

Blazer: Gap (on sale!), Top: from Hong Kong, Scarf: from Taipei, Jeans: Old Navy.

Veronika, if you read this, I hope you're proud of me. Because look, white blazer!

Right, so for the uninitiated (i.e. the rest of the internet), Veronika was looking all pretty in her white blazer, and telling me I ought to get one, too. So I found this one at the Gap sale, it sat in my shopping cart for a while... and there's nothing quite like having something sell out online to make you realise you really, really want it.

First Gap store I walked into had one white blazer left, in my size. I quickly saw why, it had fallen on the floor and people had literally walked all over it. But! We have this awesome spray called stain-slayer in the UK, so bearing that in mind I took it to the till and haggled the blazer down from the sale price. And then I sprayed it and washed it, and check it out - good as new!

Jane Eyre

Say hello to my new favourite T-shirt. I've been drooling over the Out of Print website for ages, where old book covers make it onto soft, fitted T-shirts. What always stopped me from getting one was the sheer hassle of importing one from the US - and then suddenly, one of my local bookstores was selling them!

Jane Eyre was one of my favourite classical novels, discovered during my one term of English Lit. If I'm going to wear a book across my tits, it had better be one I love, so that one had to come home with me. Also, it cracks me up how the picture looks like one of those old Harlequin Silhouette covers. Here's me kneeling so you can get the full cheesy effect of Jane gasping as Mr. Rochester gallops through the night.

I added the leopard print because the outfit seemed to need a little extra something, and I think it worked! I would have worn leopard shoes as well, if not for the rain. Suddenly I can't help thinking of Jane wearing leopard print, maybe that would've made her happier. And Mr. Rochester would've got a kick out of it too - "Your're looking terribly feisty today, Miss Eyre..."

That's life, eh?

Sweater: Esprit, Jeggings: UniQlo, Boots: Anthro

My life lately has, to be honest, been a hot mess. I've done everything from work in a warehouse unpacking clothes to leading theatre rehearsals to playing real-life Tetris with lots of heavy furniture. I've barely had time to sleep. Blogging, taking photos or even checking my email just became a luxury I didn't have time for.

Jacket & Short: Anthro, both old, Shirt: J.Crew, old, Belt: UniQlo, Boots: from Norway, also old. Hah!
Of course, the MAIN things in life are still okay. I'm still happily married, I still have a roof over my head and friends who help me carry furniture across town. It's just been hard to do anything BUT work. So have two outfits from before my life went insane. Both these outfits only produced the one usable photo, so I thought I'd lump them together. So you see, even though I am running around like a headless chicken, I am not running around naked. At least there's that.

"Everything is Better with a Fedora"

Jacket & belt: UniQlo, Dress: Anthro, Shoes: Clark's, Hat: Zara (men's section).

This dress is amazing. I mean, it makes me look like I'm eight feet tall and have no ass whatsoever. And I love my hat, that I've had for years but never blogged. It's from the mens' section at Zara, and originally Victor wanted it - but it was too small for his head. He was downright upset with me when I put it on and looked cute, but he still bought it for me! A wise woman once said, "Everything is better with a fedora." Indeed.

Green Jeans!

Jacket: UniQlo, Top: Holly & Whyte, Jeans: AG Stevies via ebay, Shoes: Clarks outlet.

I have some of the awesomest friends. Like, in the world. Because when I found these kelly green jeans on ebay, in my size, after having missed out on them last year, my friend Grace kindly agreed to send them to the UK for me. So I owe her a big massive thank you! I'm like a kid with a new toy, I've already worn them several days in a row... but this was the first outfit I put them in. That makes is special, right?

I was totally going for the nautical vibe, and I was going to wear my leopard print flats too... only then I realised I'd left them in Norway, and ended up trying my purple ones instead. Am I nuts or does this look cool? I kind of like this mad, bright combo! And check out the bare ankles, and the fact that I match the foilage! It's finally spring for realsises! ...in London, anyway. Apparently, Norway had sleet the day I took these. But hey, one out of two ain't bad!

Birthday Suit

Dress: Wallis, Cardigan: J.Crew factory, Boots: Clark's.

This is what I wore for my birthday - which was what, two weeks ago now? Time sure flies, and nothing puts that into perspective more than birthdays! I got to go to the Roy Lichtenstein exhibition with my mother (that was my present), have dinner and chocolate cake with Victor and a small horde of girlfriends, and I got to wear this dress. If you have any idea of how many years I've been searching for the perfect polkadot dress, only to stumble into Wallis (a shop I never go to) and spot one in my size on the sale rack... I feel all 1940's in this getup!

Oh, and have a picture of the cake. It was glorious. We still have a big hunk of it in the freezer, too!

Earth Colours

Dress, hat and belt: Anthro. Necklace: from Barcelona, Bangle: F21.

When my mother and I were going through the sale racks at Anthro the other week, I suggested this dress to her. I'd been lusting over it myself since October or whenever, back when they first brought the thing out, but I thought it would suit her much better. Her response? "Well, it isn't the sort of thing you can just throw on before running for the bus, is it."
To which I replied, "Uh, I would." And yeah, guess who ended up buying it?

As I get older I find myself getting almost sensible. I mean, sure this dress wasn't the most considered purchase in the world, but it's in dark brown, my basic colour. So it's a great basic backdrop for all the mad scarves, necklaces and cardigans I own. Is it weird that one of my favourite colour combinations ever is yellow and brown?
