Year of the Jeans

Holy Batmobile - I wore a lot of jeans in 2014! I have a new-year's resolution that involves wearing more skirts in 2015, and also to pursue this walking in heels thing that is so popular on the internet. Or you know, at least breaking in my flatforms that I got for Christmas last year...

Other resolutions include not throwing clothes on the floor, not picking at my eye (wish me luck, I swear I've given myself mild OCD) and rereading all my favourite comics. See what I did there, throwing that in at the end? Makes it sound like a total chore...

And yes, I am still alive - but my mother has been visiting us for the past two weeks and not only has there been DIY and sarcasm, there was also the first Christmas since my dad died. And since he died literally the day before Christmas last year, it was kind of strange, but also wonderful, to rediscover what the holidays mean to us now. That sounds deeper than it was, probably - a lot of it was me gushing over our Christmas tree and Victor moaning that he just wanted to set it on fire, ornaments and all.

  1. Happy New Year, Gwen! Jeans are my absolute favorite item of clothing so I am all for a Year of the Jean! You look super duper fantastic in all of your jeans. I especially love the pink ones! Sounds like Victor and I feel the same way about Christmas trees and decorations. How beautiful that you and your mom are rediscovering the holidays for yourselves. Sarcasm included! xo

    1. CYNTHIA!! Happy New Year to you too, honey! Ahhhh I put my mother on her plane home today, and I can finally blog without sneaking around again! (I love her. But you know. Mothers. ;) ) You know what's on my jeans wishlist? Decent bootcuts and/or glorious flares like yours. Which is ridiculous because I am literally terrified to count how many jeans I actually own! The pink pair is one of my favourites, too - they will definitely be coming out to play in Jan.! :)

    2. Oh my gosh the Los Angeles Times just did a feature about flares and bell bottoms being a top trend this year so you will have plenty to chose from!
The thing is - I own a lot of jeans too but I don't feel bad about it since I wear all of them - well - all of the time!

    3. Thank you for helping me justify the madness. Because I *do* wear jeans all the time, too... the weather is just so temperamental here that they're always the safe option. And then it's good to have options. ;)
That makes me happy about the bell-bottoms. I will keep my eyes peeled!!

    1. Thanks so much, Kristen! This comment totally made my day, you know! Happy new year! (Or "yarr", as I typed at first. That's how a pirate would say it, I guess!)

  3. Happy New Year, Gwen! I hope you had a nice visit with your mom and were able to celebrate with your dad in spirit! Why oh why would Victor want to set your poor little geeky tree on fire? It's the cutest! Lots of time with family will do that to you, I suppose! We were with ours for two weeks as well, though we got to change up who we were visiting each day. Thankfully. Whew.

It was the year of the jeans for you, indeed! When I think colored jeans, I do think of you. I STILL love those pink pants with the mustard cardigan. I just adore that pairing. I now have a mustard cardigan. And more pink than I know what to do with. Think I can replicate that color palette somehow? I'm certainly going to try!

Looking forward to continuing our friendship in 2015!

    1. Belated New Year's wishes to you too, babe! We did have a lovely visit, we even revisited an old Norwegian Christmas tradition on the day he died, by having porridge together - it's a weird tradition, but all Norwegians do it! I think maybe Victor was hoping for a nice plastic tree? His parents even have a plastic sofa cover, he's just convinced it's the most hygienic and efficient. Also, he was probably winding me up. That's his favourite hobby, after all! Your trip home sounds like a social marathon! No wonder you had all those different outfits lined up! I didn't get ANY outfit photos over Christmas, not one!

You have to do that combination! You have pink EVERYTHING, you could do a whole post about combining different pink items with that one cardigan.

And yes, definitely! You're one of my favourite human specimens after all, Lizmeister! :)
